Be a tree

With strong roots deep into the earth
And arms embracing all of potential heaven
Lending shade to the thirsty traveller
Bearing fruits for all her mother's children
A tree never hits back but merely cracks
And then too, supports
From the cruel mother's occasional backlash
With every cell breathing and pouring life
Strong, withstanding every storm
Steady and calm
Be a tree

But have you seen a tree in the wild
Independent of civilization or care
Entwined and yanking on her brothers and sisters
Full of life, only for herself
Her hair wrapped around her torso
With upside down roots and exoskeletons
And unassuming thorns supporting her flowers
Dripping with cheer, oblivious to what is expected of her
Still strong, withstanding every storm
Chaotic and fierce
Be a tree
