The beginning of a forever after.

In the presence of a glorious fire he sat thrilled,
Merry family celebrating their wishes fulfilled,
The crimson and scarlet on that blessed morning,
Were witnesses to the union that was in the forming.

The colorful milieu made brighter with joyous smiles,
Elated yet majestic he sat before the aisles,
The blithe air was adorned by floral and myrrh,
While his wandering eyes looked for her.

Draped in nine of the finest silk red,
Towards him by her maids she was lead,
Her angelic forehead with a smear of vermilion,
Her big leonine eyes dazzling behind a shy veil of the heaven.

Exquisite was her charm through the rose tint of her glow,
As she took her rightful place alongside her beau,
Their glances exchanged volumes of emotion,
As their collective aura exuded a tremendous passion.

As he held her henna filled hand, her golden bangles jingled,
On them the holy rice, the pujari cheerfully sprinkled,
Through the instrumental harmonies of the mridangams and nadaswarams,
They pledged their hearts in the presence of all godly forms.

With the three knots depicting the holy trinities,
The blessings of a prosperous future they seized,
He held her delicate feet and adorned them with toe rings,
And their souls were joined with invisible strings.

They proceeded around the embers and delicious camphor fumes,
As they wedded in the matrimonial tunes,
Divine sanctification bestowed among blissful congratulations,
A life to love, protect and honor, in sickness and in health, through all lows and elation.
Thus united two hearts, lives and families into one.
