Snow White's step mother

She spelled long goodbyes to her cozy shack,
as she embarked on that saunter to the unfamiliar.
The oaks and maples accompanied her musical whims,
as they waved her way, the finest zephyrs.

She never let people in for fear they would leave,
but before she knew it, they were already long gone.
It was time for her to unearth her demons,
and seek refuge in the backwoods of the unknown.

She progressed through the ballads of the wise robins,
who sang of a possible unredeemed or unrequited.
And yet she gave, like all through her life
pieces of her heart to these confidants.

The horrors of the loss of an affinity too close,
Haunted her senses like phantoms of the dark woods.
Only to realize, there was no defeat in a world
Where one faces the possibility of a stupendous love.

A love so unconditional,
A love so enduring,
A love so patient,
A love so mature,
Yet, a love as innocent and self-less.

What was the trail of bread-crumbs for?
a means to follow their way back home.
Little did they know, that's where they were wrong,
Because home lies in your heart; known, unknown or  solitary.
