Fence of time

As we sit upon the fence of time
To claim as neither yours nor mine
And the lives not lived, I regret
Yet another for you beget
Your first day in school
When you thought hip-hop was cool
Everytime you missed the bus
When you contemplated over a fuss
The violin lessons that you hated
All the celebrities you thought you dated
Two smiles break out at the thought
That now we're probably not far apart
And hope that another day on another fence
We'll meet if only just to share
Without a memory to spare
And together we'll live very many lives
Within our very little time
