Rebellion

To love truly and authentically
Is rebellion
Against everything we are told
We should be and should need
'Cos we already are that
We come into this world
To only live outside of us
Where self-preservation is a term
Too freely thrown around
For alarm bells and red flags
It is rebellion to find beauty
In struggle, strife, darkness and light
As different colors in this canvas
We, humans, deserve celebration
Look how far we've come!
The biggest rebellion of all though
Is to be kind
In the face of ghosts and battles
Within and outside us
It takes tremendous strength
To say what you mean
But to mean only the best
So be kind,
I can't stress this enough
In every little thing you say
You never know
Whose day you might turn around
