Write (from Nov 2023)
When they read your life
Word for word
Spilled on a stray page
You won't know you're a hero
They'll know your favorite pastime
Of painting with your fingers
And your perennial confusion
By the missing 'U' after an 'O'
They'll learn of your bruises
The ones you're so proud of
Like the time you climbed rocks
Or when you fell drunk, on the snow
They'll laugh at the silliness
Of pride and false prejudice
The football team you secretly hate
And the song that's more a bellow
They'll smile at the times you cherish
When your dad hugged you proud
The time you won
And your first kiss by the setting sun
Word for word
Spilled on a stray page
You won't know you're a hero
They'll know your favorite pastime
Of painting with your fingers
And your perennial confusion
By the missing 'U' after an 'O'
They'll learn of your bruises
The ones you're so proud of
Like the time you climbed rocks
Or when you fell drunk, on the snow
They'll laugh at the silliness
Of pride and false prejudice
The football team you secretly hate
And the song that's more a bellow
They'll smile at the times you cherish
When your dad hugged you proud
The time you won
And your first kiss by the setting sun
